Allison Sian Margulies, Ph.D.

Education & Experience

Dr. Margulies is a licensed psychologist. She earned both her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Memphis. Dr. Margulies then completed a Pre-doctoral Internship in School Psychology at the Nebraska Internship Consortium in Professional Psychology and then a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in neurodevelopmental disabilities at The Kennedy Krieger Institute and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Most recently, Dr. Margulies was a clinician at The Center for Children with Special Needs in Glastonbury, CT where she worked with pre-schoolers through young adults and specialized in the assessment of Pervasive Developmental Disorders and Intellectual Disability.

Dr. Margulies has extensive experience conducting various types of evaluations, including developmental, cognitive, adaptive, diagnostic, behavioral, as well as social-emotional assessments.  She has participated in school reentry programs and conducted psychological and psychoeducational assessments at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital School Program in Memphis, TN.  Dr. Margulies is certified to administer the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), considered to “gold standard” in diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Research

Dr. Margulies is also an experienced researcher.  At Yale University, she was a research clinician and studied genetic and behavioral characteristics of PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorders).  She has published articles concerning early child education settings, pediatric neuropsychology, and gifted children in journals such as Psychology in the Schools, Journal of Pediatric Psychology, and Child Neuropsychology. Dr. Margulies has also been the lead author of many presentations including Managing your Child’s Special Education Needs and Managing Challenging Behavior.

 Dr. Margulies is a member of the National Association of School Psychologists and the American Psychological Association. She lives in Fort Collins and in her free time, enjoys photography, writing and hiking.
